Barielle Jetsetter Collection for Fall/Winter 2014

Barielle has another collection for this Fall, I posted the previous one here.  I wasn't sure about this one, since it had two greens in it and a beige.  However, Rain in Spain made it all worth while.  This color is amazing IRL.  It is bright, but not neon.  A lilac that doesn't lean periwinkle and it compliments my skin tone.  I am wearing it on my toes, I took it to the salon, and thought that this shade is perfect for this cold weather.

The formula on these was very consistent, except for Midnight in Paris which pooled a little bit, and it required more clean up.  It didn't stain my nails, so that is always good news for dark blues.  If I had to choose one of the Fall Collections, I would choose the Me Couture, but I would also add Rain In Spain to my shopping cart.

OPI Blonde Date is a shimmery yellow gold

An oldie, but goodie.  I haven't seen such a gorgeous gold since Essie Amalfi.  After some googling, I found out that this is dupey to OPI Megawatt, which is still around.  I am not sure, but now I want to try that one too.  I am a big fan of shimmery golds, especially if they have an old-school feel, like this one.

The formula was great, and the brush stroke-y look was not as bad in real life.  For some reason, it seems to be amplified in pictures.  I have a little trick when I encounter sheer shimmers, such as this one.  I apply the first coat and try to match that with something in my stash.  Then, I apply a coat of a sheer color that would not change it too much.  In this case, I used a Jelly (L'Oreal Bananarama Love), and then one last coat of the shimmer.  It works wonders.

NailNation Not Your Average Girl is a complex holiday shade

There was recently a mix up with one of my NailNation orders, and Maria kindly offered to send me an unreleased shade.  This is a gorgeous burgundy holographic with subtle sparks of iridescent glitters.  These were really hard to capture on camera, and they are also inconspicuous on the nail.  They are really sparse, and I really like it the way it is.

This shade of red is really pretty in real life, and it has a nicely distributed gold shimmer that only appears at some angles, and in certain light conditions.  This is one of those holographics that are nice and strong in the sun, but have a really special shimmer indoors.  My pictures don't do it justice.

Pahlish Chromatic Candy Crunch and Caramel Apple Orchard are two LE beauties

I recently had the pleasure to participate in a Pahlish small batch pre-order restock.  It went really smooth and my nail polishes were delivered sooner than expected.  I haven't worn this brand in quite a while, and I was really surprised with these.

Chromatic Candy Crunch is a sheer lavender-toned holographic with multicolored mini-flakies.  It looks ok on it's own, but I found it great for layering.  Below, are pictures over a dark blue and white accent.

Caramel Apple Orchard was deliciously juicy.  This is a bright red jelly with pink hues and golden mini-flakies.  Flakies seem to be making a come back, so these two were right on the money.  Formula wise they were both perfect.  I will have to keep an eye out for this brand now.

Making my own nail polish... finally!

If you've read my story on the Literary Lacquers Thermodynamics description, you might have seen this coming.  I am obsessed with color.  I think about it as I'm driving to work by looking at the cars, when I go shopping for clothes or make up, and when I polish my nails.  Basically, every hour of every day.  I didn't study art, but I am artsy, and I love mixing and frankening.  After a few friends encouraged me (((thanks))) I finally decided to open my own company, and live the dream.

This is a really small collection, as I take baby steps into the Indie-nail-polish-making world.  Therefore, only 5 colors will launch soon.  I took some initial pics this morning for this post, but I'm still working on the details.  Swatches will follow soon, as well as the exact date and time of the launch ;)

This announcement pertains to the blog because the URL will change.  Now www.sparklyvernis.com will become a front, for all the stuff related to my nail polish and my blogging, etc.  There will be a "B" icon on that main site, and it will lead to the blog.  You can also bookmark it as http://blog.sparklyvernis.com (link not active yet), in case you want to save it to check posts as usual.  I know, it seems complicated now, but I'm just trying to consolidate things and make it as simple as possible.

Not sure how I will be able to keep up with the social media portion of it yet.  Given that I have a full time job, and I just joined a gym, but here are the outlets where you will find the updates for SV:

Instagram: https://instagram.com/sparklyvernis
Pintrest Board: http://www.pinterest.com/sparklyvernis/sv-by-sparkly-vernis/
Twitter: https://twitter.com/sparklyvernis
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/SVbySV
Google+: https://plus.google.com/113262256422871905592/posts
email: sales@sparklyvernis.com
and of course my blog!

IG and Google+ are fairly new, I never used them, but now I will for the brand.  My Pintrest is the same, I just added a new board for SV Nail Polishes.  Twitter is the same as the one that I [rarely] use for the blog.  The FB is different than the blog FB, so if you want to like both, that would be awesome.  The e-mail for the blog will remain the same (link in my press tab), please use sales@sparklyvernis.com for now, for all inquiries regarding the brand SV by Sparkly Vernis <3 Thank you!
